Our Medical-Grade Metabolic Testing Process
At GitelCare, we use clinical indirect calorimetry, which is the gold standard in metabolic measurement used in research hospitals and universities.
Step 1
Before Your Test (Preparation for Accurate Results)
For the most reliable results from your metabolic test:
- Fast for 12 hours before your appointment (water is permitted)
- Avoid exercise for 24 hours before testing
- Get adequate sleep the night before
- Drink water normally to stay hydrated
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
These guidelines ensure your test results reflect your true basal function, providing the most reliable data for your treatment plan.
Step 2
During Your Metabolic Assessment (60-90 minutes)
Your appointment includes:
- Initial Consultation: Review of health history, weight management challenges, and goals
- RMR Measurement: Using the KORR Medical Technologies MetaCheck system, you’ll relax comfortably while breathing through a specialized mouthpiece for 15-20 minutes. This painless process measures oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production to calculate precisely how many calories your body burns at rest.
- Body Composition Analysis: Using multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance technology, we measure body fat, muscle mass, and hydration status. These are all crucial factors affecting metabolic function.
- Preliminary Review: Before leaving, you’ll receive an initial interpretation of your results compared to population norms for your age, gender, and body type.
Step 3
After Testing (Your Customized Metabolic Plan)
Following your assessment:
- We review your complete metabolic profile
- You’ll receive a comprehensive follow-up consultation explaining your results
- We’ll develop a customized metabolic optimization strategy
- Your plan integrates with our whole-person wellness approach
Unlike standard weight loss clinics, every aspect of your GitelCare plan is calibrated to your specific metabolic needs, based on objective data rather than generic formulas.
